Our team

David is a well known property professional having been in practice for nearly 40 years. He is particularly regarded in the field of property valuation and expert witness. From 2008-11 he was Global Valuation Director at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and guided the profession through the financial crisis and its aftermath. Consequently David is frequently sought upon as an authoritive expert witness and founded LHR Chalkhouse having been a director of Chestertons, where he remains a consultant.

Duncan has worked throughout his professional life in commercial property commencing at Conrad Ritblat and Co in London W1 (now Colliers), Mann and Co in Surrey and he joined the firm of Grimley and Son/ GVA/ now Avison Young in 1986. He became a salaried partner in 1991 and equity partner in 1995 and held the position of National Head of the Lease Consultancy Department for approximately 15 years. Since 2011 he has practised independently forming McWhirter Locke, Chartered Surveyors in 2015.
He has advised on property matters across all principal sectors of the market including offices, industrial and retail properties and specialist sectors such as car parks, motor trade educational and places of worship . He has acted in the capacity of arbitrator and independent expert and has given evidence as an expert witness in the County Court, High Court and in other tribunals. He has acted in the role of client manager for FTSE 100, major UK and international corporates including Wolseley plc. (now Ferguson), Centrica plc, ABB, The AA, National Car Parks and Europcar.

Rupert’s career has been focused across Central London and South West England and he has acted for a wide range of corporate clients, banks/lenders, solicitors and private individuals. Rupert specialises in statutory valuations (Inheritance Tax, Capital Gains Tax and Annual Tax on enveloped dwellings) and leasehold enfranchisement (lease extension and freehold purchase).
Before founding Calstone Property in 2020, Rupert worked at Chestertons for 8 years. Calstone Property is a surveying practice that focuses on Prime Central London and works together with estate agencies to ensure that our shared clients are provided with the highest level of service which focuses on accurate and detailed valuations and excellent client communication and satisfaction.
